Session 1: Micro-credential - Laying the Groundwork with FirstDay Learning- Virtual 

Description: This training is part of a micro-credential badge - Developing Self-Regulation. This badge provides participants the opportunity to explore foundational factors that can lead to challenging behavior. The session will help participants better understand children’s basic needs and provide them with strategies to ensure that those needs are being met.

Pre-requisite: Attend the micro-credential orientation scheduled for July 1st- To register click on the following link: 

Each session includes:
2-hour facilitated sessions on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30PM
36 Method Cards with actionable classroom solutions
Ongoing support with Implementation Plans
1-hour small group feedback/coaching sessions following each course session
Stipend upon completion of Implementation Plans and course work
Course certificate of professional development hours upon course completion

Earning Criteria: The participant must successfully complete all the following courses in order to be eligible for the micro-credential in Developing Self-Regulation Pathway. 
Session 1: Laying the Groundwork 
Session 2: Understanding behavior
Session 3: Documenting Behavior
Session 4: Teaching Replacement Behaviors
Session 5: Ongoing Implementation and Evaluation of Behavior Support Systems

Developing Self-Regulation Micro-credential earning criteria
The participant must:
1) Earn the following badges: Building and supporting self-regulation and Mastering Challenging Behaviors
2) Complete a portfolio for this micro-credential
3) Successfully demonstrate the employability skill during an observation

Coaching Feedback Session # 1: August 11 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm

III, C, 1. Develops positive relationships and interacts comfortably with familiar adults

Core Competencies:
2A, I, 1. Recognize that children develop at different rates and have different temperaments that may affect their learning.
2C, II, 4. Summarize the major influences that impact children’s behaviors and interactions

At the end of this session participants will be able to:
Define the term ‘pairing’ and understand how to use this strategy as a foundational skill in creating behavior change programs for children
Understand children’s basic needs and ways to recognize if those are being met
Build confidence in their ability to look at behavior as a means for children to express their needs
