Micro-credential Orientation for Supporting SE Development and Promoting Emotional Competence (English & Spanish)
Feb 22, 20226:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Micro-credential Orientation for Supporting SE Development Badge
This interest orientation will be held virtually and will share information for directors and teachers who are interested in participating in the Micro-credential program offered by the Early Learning Coalition.
The Micro-credential program is a digital badging system that visually shows identified education pathways that move students forward to achieving proficiency in employability skills. The employability skills are those broader abilities and dispositions necessary to be a qualified early childhood teacher or leader, capable of creating quality learning environments for children.
Badges and micro-credentials provide an opportunity to recognize specific skills and knowledge that the early childhood professional has mastered, demonstrating credibility, and assists them in remaining current in the field by encouraging lifelong learning. Badges are awarded upon successful completion of trainings within a specific pathway; micro-credentials are awarded following the accumulation of badges, the completion of a portfolio, and an observation of the employability skill associated with the specified micro-credential pathway.
Each pathway is comprised of specific trainings that support an understanding and application of targeted core competencies. These core competencies, which are the foundation of the system, are the knowledge and skills needed to support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children.
