Session 1: Trauma to Resilience
Presenter: Nida Paul, LMHC, NCC
Description: This training focuses on the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) as well as the impact of positive childhood experiences (PCEs) on children. It provides strategies for teachers to help promote resilience in children through a trauma-focused care approach. Finally, this training will address ways for teachers to cope with challenges they face because of being exposed to children’s trauma stories on a regular basis.
Participants will learn:
· Outcomes and findings of the ACEs study,
· Definition of toxic stress and its impact on the developing brain,
· Impact of PCEs on children,
· The importance of resilience and ways to promote it in children,
· Self-care and coping skills to manage the negative impact of trauma stories on themselves.

Session 2: The Importance of Screening for Developmental Delays and Behavioral Concerns
Presenter: Antonella Malca and Lindsey C. Kostura
Description: Along with an overview of the work HomeSafe does and its collaboration with ELC and surrounding partner agencies, we will delve into the world of developmental and behavioral screening.
Participants will learn:
The Importance of developmental and behavioral screening of children
The benefits of providing these screenings to young children.
How to identify toxic stress in the home and its impact on child development.
