The Early Head Start (EHS) program provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services for 150 children (birth to 3 years-old) and their families in the areas of highest need in Palm Beach County. Children's Services Council (CSC) Scholarships were created to provide stability and continuity of care for at-risk children who are no longer eligible for state funding – locally prioritizing services for each family unit as a whole. Through our partnership with CSC, we connect these families to high-quality programs participating in the Strong Minds Quality Child Care Network. Within Palm Beach County’s Strong Minds Network, providers are offered support and incentives to meet their goals and improve quality early care and education programs.
There is a need for local assessment data in early childhood education to be used in ways that benefit the children and families here in Palm Beach County. As a result, CSC provided the vision and support necessary to launch the Teaching Strategies GOLD (GOLD) project. GOLD is an authentic and formative early childhood assessment tool; a web-based application that supports early education practitioners to observe and document demonstrated abilities of children from birth to Kindergarten. GOLD is strongly aligned with state and national learning standards (birth-3, Pre-K, Head Start and Common Core).
Our free developmental screening and assessment programs within Palm Beach County provide families an opportunity to ensure their child’s development is healthy. Through screening and assessment, providers and families can find the necessary tools and activities to support each child in meeting age-appropriate milestones.
Echoing our belief that all children deserve quality care and education, we support our providers as they work to deliver early intervention and inclusion for children with special needs in all early childhood environments throughout Palm Beach County. We also have an established Warmline for parents and child care providers needing further information related to disabilities or special health care needs of children.
Our Quality Supports team provides trainings for our child care providers on many topics and provides them with Technical Support on any requirements as needed.
