VPK Supports School Readiness for Your Child
Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a free program designed to prepare four-year-old children for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success. VPK is available to all four-year-olds that live in Florida, regardless of family income.
The 2026/27 VPK program year application is now open!
For the 2026/27 program year, children must be born between September 2, 2021 and September 1, 2022.
VPK provides an early childhood educational experience that supports the development of early literacy, pre-math skills, scientific thinking, and social skills development.
When a student successfully completes the VPK program, they are more ready for kindergarten than children who do not attend VPK.
